5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) is currently established as a standard treatment for first-line treatment of mild-to-moderate UC. This study have reported treatment adherence, patients’ satisfaction and treatment efficacy of once daily (OD) and divided daily (DD) dosing in the Korean ulcerative colitis (UC) patients.
In this study, 180 patients were randomly assigned to the OD or DD group in a 1:1 ratio. The adherence rates were not different between the OD group and DD group. The patients’ satisfaction of the OD group was higher than that of the DD group. At 1 year, 5-ASA OD dosing might have the same effect as DD for the maintenance of UC remission (91.2% and 95.5%, respectively).
